Cartier’s Ballon Bleu Tourbillon; Why Bigger Is Not Always Better.

About 20 years ago, Cartier did have a few stunning Pasha tourbillons, in their Collection Privée series (1998-2008). At that time ‘La Maison’ relied for these watches, on calibers from Girard Perregaux, like the 493MC. Absolute nothing wrong with that, since these are master pieces when it comes to tourbillon movements. But from the late 1990’s, Cartier decided to develop and produce, most of their own calibers themselves and the 9452MC flying tourbillon caliber, that we’re discussing here, was one of the first examples of Cartier’s watchmaking, together with the automatic 1904MC caliber, that was build to power several mainstream models.
