The next auction by Phillips in Hong Kong on May 28th. is worth to check out. There are often plenty of vintage Rolex timepieces, but now and then, some nice ‘Collection Privée, Cartier Paris’, or ‘Fine Watch Making’ pieces are popping up at these important auctions. So for this sale, we would like to mention the:
Cartier ‘Tank Basculante’ from the CPCP series.A fine and attractive limited edition in yellow gold. Reversible rectangular wristwatch, with a case size of 24mm x 36mm. The watch comes with a certificate and box. This is number 68 from a limited edition of 365 pieces. The Phillips estimate is Euro 2.700.- -4.500.- (HK$24,000 – 40,000 ) what we think is on the low side.
The Cartier ‘Santos-Dumont’, a model that Cartier just released this month in a steel case, will be auctioned here in platinum. Also, this watch is from the ‘Collection Privée’ series, although not limited, like the Tank Basculante. The platinum case that measures 27x36mm, is fitted with a mechanical caliber by F. Piguet. The estimate is Euro 8.800 – 13.500 (HK$78,000 – 120,000) what we feel is too high.
One of the most amazing pieces that Cartier created (Carole Forestier-Kasapi and team), is the ‘Rotonde Astro Tourbillon’. A fine and rare limited edition niobium-titanium wristwatch with astro regulateur, in a 50mm Niobium-titanium case. The watch is numbered 6 of a limited
edition of just 50 pieces and comes with a certificate and presentation box. Estimate €53,000-106,000 (HK$470,000- 940,000)
The ‘Ballon Bleu Flying Tourbillon’ was the first model that Cartier launched for the ‘Fine Watch Making’ series in 2008. This is a pink gold version in 46mm. with a Manufacture caliber. A certificate and presentation box are included in the sale. The estimate of €22,000-39,500 (HK$195,000- 350,000) is low.
